Learning
outdoors at Manor House especially promotes the 4 key skills that today’s
children will need in tomorrow’s world.
1. Problem solving; 2.
Creative thinking; 3. Risk taking (in a controlled environment); 4.
Self-confidence
Our Forest School does all of this in 22 acres of
stunning Devon countryside.
Our Forest School sessions are
designed for children to develop: independence, self awareness, self
regulation, fine & gross motor skills, self motivation, empathy, good social
and communication skills, a positive mental attitude, self-esteem and
confidence. Children work and play together amidst colourful, airy and adaptable surroundings in a happy, relaxed and positive atmosphere in which encouragement abounds. The experiences provided for each individual are stimulating, challenging, absorbing and satisfying, allowing for every aspect of development and natural progression through the various strands of the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1.
Our aim is to provide an Effective Forest School which increases the Skills and Knowledge of those who take part.
A Shared Experience
Our Forest School sessions are about
sharing our skills and experiences. Everyone involved is a teacher and
learner and we all help each other to achieve our goals as well as having a
great deal of fun. Parents are very much a part of the team- as an extra
pair of eyes, ears and hands; to bring their own ideas for giving children
experiences outdoors from their own expertise and enthusiasm. So far we have
had bird box building, felt making, story telling & outdoor cooking sessions
– all inspired and led by our parents.
As well as enhancing many
areas of the curriculum, activities include… Wood Carving, Pencil
Making, Shelter Building, Open fire cooking, Fire Building,
Studies of habitats, Plant & animal identification, Rope tying,
Sculpture making For further information or to arrange a visit please telephone 01404 42026 To learn more about Manor House School please click here . To request a prospectus please click here. |
